Know - Show - Grow A simple taxonomy for feedback
Just wondering if we could boil down Bloom and most learning models to know, show, grow and flow in terms of a model and as a structure for giving simple fast diagnostic feedback. Iv'e always worried that the upper levels of most models are too hard to understand.
It could be a cyclical process with the teacher able to acknowledge success in one category and take a target from somewhere in the other two. Any suggestions on more verbs of knowing for any of the categories or views / suggestions on the general idea as comments below please.
As in "well done on knowing peristalsis, how about showing in the hotseat on digestion next?
Know define --"square on hypotenuse is equal..." describe identify label list match select write fill in blanks
Show demonstrate ----" this is the hypotenuse you can see its bigger..." present hit the media shift key between research and presentation tell point out adjust respond to questions
Grow apply --------"here is an animation of squares growing out of the hypotenuse" combine recombine evaluate develop build connect point out connections collage layer weave care for pose new questions leading in turn to new knowing
Flow magic mastery integration in new and unexpected ways deeper metaphor |
